The Refuge Visitor Center and Friend's Prairie Wind Nature Store are located off County Road Z on Brice Prairie in Onalaska, WI.
The Visitor Center has many interesting educational displays, walking trails and information about the Refuge. The Nature store has many books, puzzles, tee-shirts and stuffed animals. All proceeds help the Friends fulfill their mission of supporting the Refuge and bringing opportunities to people in the surrounding area.
Driving Directions:
From La Crosse:
Head north out of La Crosse on Hwy 35.
After driving through Onalaska and two round-a-bouts, turn left onto County Road Z, in a few miles you will see the Refuge Visitor Center to your left at N5727 County Road Z.
Or
Head north out of La Crosse on Hwy 16.
Take a left onto Hwy 157, which turns into Hwy 53.
Exit at OT and take a left.
Stay on OT until the stop sign in Midway.
Turn left onto ZN at the stop sign in Midway.
Turn right onto County Z at stop sign.
Take first left into the Refuge Visitor Center.
From Holmen:
Head South on Hwy 53.
Exit at OT.
Turn right onto OT, take OT into Midway.
Turn left onto ZN at the stop sign in Midway.
Turn right onto Z at stop sign.
Take first left into the Refuge Visitor Center.
From Minnesota:
Head east on I-90.
Exit I-90 at Exit 4, US-53, take a LEFT at the stoplight onto US-53.
Exit US-53 at OT and take a LEFT onto County Road OT.
In Midway, take a LEFT at the stop sign onto County Road ZN.
Take a RIGHT at the stop sign onto County Road Z.
Immediately take the first LEFT through the gates of the UMRNFW Refuge Visitor Center.
From Madison, Wisconsin:
Head west on I-90.
Exit I-90 at Exit 4, US-53, take a RIGHT at the stoplight onto US-53.
Exit US-53 at OT and take a LEFT onto County Road OT.
In Midway, take a LEFT at the stop sign onto County Road ZN.
Take a RIGHT at the stop sign onto County Road Z.
Immediately take the first LEFT through the gates of the UMRNFW Refuge Visitor Center.
